But one morning, Shoshana finally opened her eyes and asked for her favorite doll. Asking for a doll didn't cure her illness, but it was the ultimate sign that her life-force, her vitality, and her health were returning.
Rav Kook explained that the Jewish people are "Shoshana." For two thousand years, the illness of exile stripped us of our natural connection to beauty, aesthetics, and creativity.
