Comic, musical women's theatre — sends you home smiling and thinking
عن الفنان
Ronit Menashe is a theatre creator, director, actress and writer with twenty years of experience on stages across Israel. Under her brand "Ronit Menashe – Women's Theatre" she creates original productions that take complex, timely Jewish and Israeli material and give it a comic twist – with a minimalist visual language, striking imagery and outstanding costumes, at repertory-theatre standard. The shows are for women of all backgrounds, aged 17 and up. The shows play in 400–600-seat theatre halls to full houses, with some venues booking them again year after year. Ronit founded and leads Balat"m, a playback theatre ensemble of six musical actresses – some of them therapists – that has performed throughout the country for ten years. Separately, together with Nurit Krauze she developed "Autobiographical Theatre", a five-month course in which women with no stage experience work on their own life story and end with a performance before an audience. She trained in set and costume design, studied writing with Rama Burshtein, and spent two years in the "Yumarot" theatre incubator of Mifal HaPais.
